Scottish Socialist Party MSPs
Parliamentary Newsletter
Week Commencing 26/1/04
This list is to give a flavour of the work our MSPs will be involved in during the coming week. It is illustrative of the work undertaken and is not intended to be comprehensive.
NB As members will know Rosie is currently not attending Parliament or taking on public work though she is dealing with constituency case work. Colin Fox is attending the Uphellyaa festival in Shetland in his capacity as the SSP group's cultural spokesperson.
NB X 2: All our MSPs do surgeries and other constituency work on Mondays and Fridays of each week (and sometimes Saturdays and Sundays as well).
Parliamentary terms explained: Member's debate: A debate sponsored by an individual MSP. These debates are selected from the motions tabled by members and motions normally have to attract the support of over 20 MSPs to be in the running. No decisions or votes are taken during these debates but they do provide opportunities to raise issues that might otherwise never be debated in the Scottish Parliament (e.g. arrests under the Terrorism Act, the European Social Forum etc).
